Galilean Moon Positions

Early in the evening, two moons will be positioned close together on both sides of Jupiter. Our aim is to take a photo of this arrangement.

Moon–Mars Conjunction

At 19:30, the Moon (92%-lit) will pass close to Mars at a distance of only 7 arcminutes, with Castor and Pollux (Gemini) to the east.

Callisto Close to Jupiter

Jupiter's outermost Galilean moon, Callisto, will be positioned very close to the planet's south pole at 19:00 tonight. Typically, when we see Callisto, it's far away from the planet.

The other three large moons will appear nicely spaced out in a line with Ganymede and Io to the east and Europa to the west.
Moon Close to Jupiter & the Pleiades
