★ Spring Constellations 2:
Boötes & Corona Borealis

Friday, 10 May 2024
21:15 - 23:15

We'll point the telescope slightly further east this time and take a look at Boötes, the Herdsman, and its neighbour, Corona Borealis, "Northern Crown".

You'll then get the chance to create another glow-in-the-dark constellation poster to add to your collection.

★ Spring Constellations 1:
Leo, the Lion

Saturday, 04 May 2024
21:30 - 23:00

Let's go out and look south west to find Leo, the Lion. We'll check out the bright stars in Leo (Regulus and Denebola) before heading back inside to create some of our very own astronomical artwork.

🌘 2024 USA Total Solar Eclipse

Monday, 08 April 2024
19:15 - 20:45

Come along and watch the NASA Livestream Event of the biggest astronomical event of 2024!

See a demonstration of how the total solar eclipse works. Light refreshments will be provided.

☄ Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks
("The Devil Comet")

Monday, 01 April 2024
19:15 - 20:45

Let's try to track down a comet! As the days get longer, the comet will soon be lost in the twilight. At the start of April, it will be low in the western sky, lurking between Jupiter and Hamal, the brightest star in Aries. It's a tricky one to see from our location.

🌞 ISS & Mercury

Sunday, 24 March 2024
18:30 - 20:00

Meet over the park and see the International Space Station as it passes almost directly overhead in the twilight sky.

Main event: Catch a rare glimpse of the planet Mercury when it will be at its greatest distance from the Sun from our perspective on Earth. This evening will be the best opportunity we'll have to see Mercury in 2024.
